Alison Shurts

Director of HR and Finance

Originally from Columbia, SC, Alison has been living in Seattle since 2008. She thinks this qualifies her as a Seattle-ite, she's not entirely sure. She definitely does NOT use an umbrella. With a business degree from Furman University, Alison began her career in finance. After a few uninspiring years behind a desk, she took a leap and began working for a women’s magazine, where she sold advertising. One of her advertisers was a yoga studio, thus beginning Alison’s decade long stint of management in the yoga and fitness industry. Alison opened and managed two lululemon stores in Seattle and was a regional manager for Corepower Yoga for the West Coast and Hawaii.

Currently, her role at Mentor is Director of HR and Finance, a mixture of all of her former jobs rolled into one. Her favorite part about working for Mentor, is working with her husband, Aaron, the founder and Creative Director. In 2011, she and Aaron decided their ultimate goal would be to open a digital agency in Seattle and lo and behold, they did it!

Outside of work she tries not to curse around her four year old daughter, teaches Yoga Sculpt at Corepower Yoga in Ballard, and is a co host of the popular podcast, The Gripe.
